Nightlife in Mumbai
A hot and happening city, Mumbai is popularly known as a city that never sleeps and Mumbaikars as people, known to enjoy their life to the fullest. Therefore, it’s not surprising to find the Mumbaikars enjoying themselves after a hard day’s work; even the lack of space doesn’t dampen the Mumbaikar’s spirit. For the average Mumbaikar, the best place to unwind themselves are the beaches and one finds both the Chowpatty and Juhu Beach filled with thousand of people, the moment the evening sinks in. One can see families, elderly couples as well as courting couples all enjoying themselves in full filled revelry. Both the beaches present a carnival like atmosphere throughout the year with horse and donkey rides to dancing monkeys, cricket matches and acrobats, kids screaming on Ferris wheels or taking pony rides, wayside astrologers ready to make a quick buck etc.
For those wanting something different, there are the usual movies, plays and other cultural activities. Newspaper like the Times of India usually lists that day's films, concerts, and other events on the last two or three pages; as does the afternoon paper Midday, which on every Friday publishes "The List" to highlight the coming week's events. Program information and details usually appear on the MTDC's city-guide programs, shown regularly on hotels' in-house TV stations.
